On 8th May 2010, I gave a gave a keynote address during the Kenyan Church Association AGM held in London, UK...
The talk, entitled "Africa's Unique Opportunities and Dilemma in Mission in the 21st Centrury: With Special Focus on Kenya", explored the great mission stories of what God is doing, huge challenges faced and prposed a way forward. The dilemmas of resources, geography, partnerships, authenticity, support systems and the future of the church are key issues we must boldly confront. How then do we resource emerging African mission movements, engage the African Christian Diaspora, embrace both sending and receiving aspects of mission, catalyse authentic new models of mission for Africa, and examine our agenda/motives in light of God's word?
It was great to connect with about 30 KCA members who attended the ocassion. KCA is a fellowship of mostly retired British missionaries who served in Kenya and a growing number of Kenyan Christians living in the UK. It seeks to create a platform for mutual fellowship on mission and development matters affecting Kenya.
I would love to hear feedback on the article especially on the issues it raises. It would be great to have some ongoing discussions on the same. Thank you. (Duncan Olumbe, MTA Coordinator)
